What's a Recovery Wiki?
A wiki is a group-editable website. Recovery Wikis are composed of alcoholism and addiction recovery web pages you can write on, enabling fast and easy collaboration. The word "wiki" comes from a Hawaiian word for "quick". Wikis were invented about 10 years ago by Socialtext advisor and friend Ward Cunningham. Wikis became the collaboration tool of choice because they are simple and flexible.
We at Recovery Wiki hope to provide you those "quick" links and recovery wikis to the information, resources and support services when it comes to alcoholism and addiction.
What's a Recovery Widget?
Economists often use the term widget to refer to an abstract unit of production. Factories produce widgets using capital and labor. However in today's world a widget as defined by Wikpedia (the leading wiki source) as follows: "It could be said that the original web widgets were the link counters and advertising banners that grew up alongside the early web. Later, ad and affiliate networks used code widgets for distribution purposes. A widget is anything that can be embedded within a page of HTML, i.e. a web page. A widget adds some content to that page that is not static."Let's not forget the Swiki!
